SANET received this information from PETA.org We believe all Sean's fans will be interested in this offer:
Can one person really change the world? PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk thinks so, and so do the contributors to her latest book, One Can Make a Difference: How Simple Actions Can Change the World (Adams Media).
Newkirk has compiled more than 50 thought-provoking, original essays written by an intriguing, diverse group of people—including actor Sean Astin, who has been outspoken about mental-health issues since his legendary mother, actor Patty Duke, was diagnosed with bipolar mood disorder. In his essay, Sean talks about the positive influence his mother has had on his life and his efforts to make a difference in the world. He participates in a bipolar-disorder–awareness campaign and he has launched a Web site to help people recognize the symptoms of the disease. He is also a spokesperson for the National Center for Family Literacy as well as the Verizon Literacy Campaign.
One Can Make a Difference is an enlightening book that provides a roadmap for anyone who has dreamed of making a positive impact on our world. As Newkirk states, "I hope that this book brings you hope, courage, and inspiration, that it helps you examine your own ability …. May it prove to you that you are bound by nothing at all and that the future, and your life, can be what you make it."
Other contributors to One Can Make a Difference include Kevin Bacon, Sir Paul McCartney, His Holiness The Dalai Lama, Dr. Henry Heimlich (inventor of the Heimlich maneuver and other lifesaving technologies), tennis champion Martina Navratilova, legendary White House correspondent Helen Thomas, and many more.
Until November 14, PETA is offering Sean Astin fans a 15 percent discount on all PETACatalog.org orders that include a copy of One Can Make a Difference (readers should use discount code MD151 when ordering). New Movie for Sean!

Sean Astin Is Demoted Starring with David Cross in dark comedy Source: The Hollywood Reporter
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With the admittedly slender possibility of some involvement in the second Hobbit movie on the horizon, you couldn’t blame Sean Astin if he were to simply while away his time sitting by the phone, waiting for it to ring.
Instead, the former Samwise Gamgee is keeping busy. He’s signed on to star in an indie comedy called Demoted, along with the always-hilarious David Cross and Michael Vartan.
Astin and Vartan will play tire salesmen who delight in playing practical jokes on their co-worker (Cross). When he becomes their boss, he demotes them to secretarial jobs – and so they begin to plan their revenge

FINALLY!! Jeremiah on the SciFi Channel!
July 03, 2008, 06:03:26 PM by webmaster in .
It's been almost a year since SANET was told by the very nice folks at Platinum Studios that 'Jeremiah' with Sean Astin as Mister Samith would be syndicated on the SciFi Channel sometime soon. I had begun to wonder if it would ever actually happen! BUT IT HAS!!
Starting July 10, 'Jeremiah' will be shown on the Scifi Channel starting at 7 PM, going 'til 11 PM. But do, do, DO be aware that these episodes will NOT feature Sean Astin. His episodes don't start until season two and they'll be showing all of season one first. Sean's first episode is called 'Letters From the Other Side, Part 1.
Please believe me when I tell you that the role of Mister Smith is, in my opinion, the very BEST work Sean has ever done. Smith is both simple, and very, very complex, and Sean leaves no nook or cranny of this amazing character unexplored. He absolutely shines in this role.
I'm thrilled that, once again, we'll be given the opportunity to see him portray the wonderful Mister Smith in this series. And just as a reminder, pictures and backgrounds from all of Sean's 'Jeremiah' episodes can be found here!!
